Even though the first day of spring was technically in March, kinda feels like it’s really arrived, n’est-ce pas? So, let’s welcome this season with wide open arms and a big ol’ smile. We missed you!!

Isn’t it lovely?

Snowblowers are being replaced with lawnmowers.

Wooly socks and winter boots are being replaced with Birkenstocks.

Windows are opening, music is playing, birds are chirping. We are emerging once again.

Moving from the cold, dry winter season to the cool, damp spring season means our bodies are being called to honour this transition as is ideal with all seasonal changes.

According to Ayurveda, winter is the season of contemplation where we go within, hunker down, huddle up, and ponder a few things about our lives. Spring is the season where we emerge and ACT on those changes. As a cherry tree shows its first blossom after dormancy, so do we put on our runners and begin that training plan we hatched up when it was subarctic temps.

Well, here we are! Time to put your money where your mouth is. Time to walk your talk.

You said you wanted it, now is your chance to get it! This might require some major gumption and yet the beautiful part about this is….the experience of going outside your comfort zone- THIS is where THE growth happens!

This is where you change.

Here are 3 quick tips (or “reminders” for some of you!) to help you on your journey:

1. Load up on greens. Your body is looking to detox all that accumulated sludge, known as “ama” in Ayurveda, from the winter time. Yes, all those holiday parties and couch marathons add up, missy. Greens are really effective at helping your body begin to detox itself and emerge anew.

2. Flush your system with lemon water. Max 2 cups. Do this first thing in the morning before anything else. That’s when your body needs it the most. A good habit to get into all year around; especially now because you are working with nature’s signals to cleanse, cleanse, cleanse! You can also use limes which are more balancing for you if you’ve discovered you are “Pitta” body type. Take the quiz here to find out your body/mind type.

3. Stretch out your entire body. Your body moves out build-up better if you move it first thing. Take 5 minutes to do this. If you don’t have 5 minutes in your day to honour your body, you’re doing something wrong. You can check out YouTube or Pinterest for ideas and guidance. Begin this habit now and keep it going for longer than just spring!

Happy emergence into this beautiful and bountiful time of year, my friend!

In light and love,

Kendra
